New CPU support lists that came from Jetway and ECS (Elitegroup Computer Systems) have now revealed a new series of processors that AMD might be cooking under everyone’s noses. The new chips go by the name Phenom II X8 CPUs and are apparently based on the Zambezi design which makes use of the Bulldozer architecture that is currently found in AMD’s FX-series CPUs.
Boutique gaming PC builder iBuyPower has introduced the latest products from its custom built gaming PCs, the Gamer Power 579Q6 and Gamer Extreme 520SLC that are both powered by an AMD Phenom II X6.
Bill Leszinske, the General Manager, Technology Planning of the Atom SoC Development Group at Intel, has claimed that by 2015, the company’s Atom processors will be faster than the current AMD Phenom II processors of today.
AMD has recently refreshed its Athlon II and Phenom II product line up with the launch of the Athlon II X2 270 and Phenom II X4 850 processors that are now available for pre-order.
The Athlon II X2 270 is currently the fastest Athlon II dual core processor that comes clocked at 3.4Ghz with a total 2MB L2 cache, supports Dual Channel DDR2 and DDR3 memory and operates on a TDP of 65W.
Gigabyte have just rolled out another motherboard to its GA-990FXA lineup, the GA-990FXA-UD5. As the name suggests, Gigabyte have based this board on the latest AMD 990FX Nothbridge and SB950 Southbridge combo. The GA-990FXA-UD5 supports the AM3+ socket including the upcoming AMD Bulldozer series CPUs and is also compatible with earlier AM3 Phenom II CPUs.
