Fractal Design Define R3 Review

Fractal Design Define R3 Review

First I’d like to say a big thank you to the guys over at Fractal Designs for providing the review sample.

I first saw the Fractal Design Define R3 case a few months ago while doing a new build for a friend. His old clunker of a computer had died on him and he needed a new one ASAP so he asked me to put a new one together for him. Unfortunately since he was in a hurry for it I had no time to check out any of the new parts thoroughly, including the Fractal Design Define R3 that he had ordered. Ever since putting it together though, the Fractal Design Define R3s design has always kind of fascinated me. You see, this case is what I would call a little bit bi-polar or has split personalities. It has that charm about it where it can be all calm and whisper quiet, giving a sense of elegance. But then if that’s not quite good enough you can remove the internal padding and get the absolute maximum airflow to cool your system and even add a water cooling set up with the many possibilities this case has to offers.

Review: SkyDrift

Review: SkyDrift

You’re probably busy right now playing big titles like Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Batman and so on. There were so many big titles that launched this quarter that when you look at the news and reviews you hardly ever get to see anything else besides those big titles and all their marketing schemes. It seems somehow unfair as there are still other games out there that are very much worth playing.

Nuclear Dawn Review

Nuclear Dawn Review

Combining the best of worlds is the ultimate purpose for any hybrid, may it be a chicken or a video game. This is what happened with the post-apocalyptic setting video game, Nuclear Dawn. The game is both a first-person shooter and real-time strategy, which is a first from Valve Corporation, developer of the legendary Counter-Strike series. Like its previous offerings, Valve intended Nuclear Dawn to be an amateur mod, but the winds of change pushed the project to be a commercial venture.

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter Review

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes of Neverwinter Review

The past few years have been really boring and dry in the eyes of the fans of the Dungeons & Dragons video game series. The reason behind this is the lack of advances or releases of a new game in the series. The only way you could get to play the Dungeons & Dragon games was if you opted to play one of the older releases, or if you were privy to a good internet connection, then you could opt for the horrendous action-RPG Daggerdale or Dungeons & Dragons Online. These were still not good options as they are still using the 3.5 Edition rules and are set in the far from perfect Eberron campaign world. Now, you tell me where is the silver lining there? As if to add insult to injury, the Atari went on to delay the upcoming PC game Neverwinter. Can you believe that? You may recall the name, as it was linked to the already published pen-and-paper Neverland and the upcoming R.A. Salvatore novel by the same name that was released last October. After this, many lost hope as the situation just got bleaker and bleaker.

Monkey Island: Special Edition Collection Review

Today, we will be reviewing another exciting new game of the 21st century. This time, the game in question is Monkey Island: Special Edition Collection, a game that was specially created by LucasArts along with LucasFilm Games. These two entities, which this collection is made of, were both two very popular names in the computer gaming world in past years and here we again see them extending their wings to provide to us this interesting video game. If you should look up the PC Game charts over the years, you would realize that the charts were regularly topped by games created by these companies and, as such, its developers were often recognized for incredible quality.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel Review

Call of Juarez: The Cartel Review

Have you heard about the video game series, Call of Juarez? Well, the last Call of Juarez was released on consoles almost two years ago now. When it was released, we found that there were a few problems with the game. So, we all hoped that the developers at Techland used the time that they had between that release and their latest, Call of Juarez: The Cartel. To our dismay, it wasn't fixed, rather the problems heightened. For example, the first-person shooting in the game now has even more difficulties than it did before. Not to mention the fact that it still has the poor audio editing problems and intermediate interruptions while in combat scenarios. These interruptions can be very annoying, especially due to the fact that the game tends to be very inescapable and appeals to various stereotypes that love these games and adore the use of the F-word.

From Dust Review

From Dust Review

If you have ever played a 'God game', then you would know that the concept of them is generally cantered around power. I mean, let's face it, that is the only reason why some people play them because they hand you omnipotence and then allow you to decide what you want to do with it. The option of being totally good or brutally evil, to be vengeful or to have mercy, being kind or exercising cruelty are among the many options you are given. You are converted, if only for the duration of the game, into a god, given unlimited power over your worshippers - yes there will be people who adore you. But of course, seeing that you are a God, you will have the ability to command, help or destroy them. That was the trend of all the God games out there, predictable as a calendar you could say. Well that was until the release of From Dust.

F1 2011 Review

F1 2011 Review

If you are a frequent race car gamer, then you should already be aware that driving an F1 car with control is not too easy. However, speeding down a race track at intense speeds in one is. I mean, practically anyone who has got a driving license could manage to cruise, or rather fly, around the track in an F1 car. But, in order for you to truly get the most out of it, you will need to possess an out of this world ability that allows you to hit the brakes just a few meters later than common sense would allow you to. You also need the ability to push just a few more miles per hour in order to get through the apex and back while staying on the gas pedal a few seconds sooner than the other racers.

TrackMania 2: Canyon Review

TrackMania 2: Canyon

The wonderful thing about humanity today is that we all have different preferences in life, and the same is true about the gaming world. There are some people who prefer racing games that keep them drenched in cold, hard realism. Then there’s my type. I prefer to spend my time blasting around the racing track at ultimately fast speeds and pulling off insane stunts as I go rather than pushing gears, spinning out of control and eating dust after crashing into guardrails. That, my friend, is exactly why TrackMania 2: Canyon is great for me, as it appeals to my preferences.

Hard Reset Review

Hard Reset Review

For PC gamers who always want their fingers on the trigger, it is probably better shooting robots than humans for your own sanity. And in Hard reset, you will have all the time to blast robots to kingdom come! I mean, what is more exciting than seeing them light up like fire works? Better than splatterings of blood, right...right? Anyway, it is a never ending blast here in Hard Reset as swarms of enemies constantly approach you to be destroyed. However, the fun is disrupted by a plot that should not have been there because it doesn't really fit in the game. Your skill in handling your dynamic weapon would be rewarded by hard-earned triumphs. To the fans of shooter games, it is like an old-school one upgraded to the next level.

Dead Island Review

Dead Island Review

Banoi is a tropical paradise surrounded by a blue wide ocean, but that is only the view you get from a far away distance. As you get closer to the beach resort, you will realize there is blood, bodies and destruction all around and gaming's favorite fictional cannibals are the cause of this carnage. At first glance, you could understandably be mistaken that Dead Island is a clone of recent zombie-centered games like Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead. However, the game is much more than that.

Tropico 4 Review

Tropico 4 Review

Tropico 4 may be dubbed by some people as Tropico 3.5 because it seems to act as an expansion pack than as a full-blown sequel. Despite the game having a title that promises a full sequel, Tropico 4 really is more of a giant expansion pack. But, don’t look at this as too big of a deterrent, as you can look at it as being a polished version of an already great game. With up to more than 80 hours of content for only $40, this game is indeed a great buy despite being similar to the original in terms of gameplay, music, and art. Rather than being a true sequel, this game is still a real blast with its good old core Tropico gameplay, great music similar to the past and a few new art assets.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review

Deus Ex is one of designer Warren Spector’s best and most innovative gaming titles. And so when a team at Eidos Montreal decided to create a prequel for it, not everybody was confident of its success since a sequel created previously wasn’t able to top the original Deus Ex. However, all the worrying turned out to be for nothing because Deus Ex: Human Revolution has turned out to be a resounding success.

Brunhilda and the Dark Crystal: Review

Remember our article about Brunhilda and the Dark Crystal? Probably not, because let's be honest: if it's not some over-hyped game or video card, most gamers simply browse through it and forget they ever read it!

However, we here at PcWhipped feel that it's important to give each game a fair chance to prove itself, because all games are meant for one thing, and that is to allow people to have fun and relax while playing, and Brunhilda and the Dark Crystal certainly hit a sweet spot.

We just love free games, especially free games where we can show our skills off to less skilled players! World of Battles, available on Bigpoint.com, is one game you won't forget any time soon.

With great looking graphics, and excellent performance on a large number of computers, World of Battles offers a fantasy setting that draws players in and doesn't let them go easily.
