Origin PC Announces the EON17-X Desktop Replacement Laptop

Origin PC proudly announces the availability of its EON17-X laptop that aims to be a replacement for a desktop system. This fully feature packed laptop is based on Intel’s X79 chipset and is powered by an Intel Sandy Bridge-E six core processor with the option of opting for a dual overclocked Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M graphics cards in SLI setup.
The EON17-X features a 17.3-inch Full HD widescreen 1920 x 1080 display. It is Origin PC’s first laptop with a customizable backlit keyboard with two lighting zones and seven color options.
Memory options include up to 32GB 1333MHz Corsair quad channel memory and up to 16GB 1866MHz Corsair Vengeance quad channel Memory. Also, up to four hard drives can be installed resulting to a maximum 4TB storage space or the option of experimenting with several SSD+HDD setups.
Available ports on this laptop include three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port, one Mini IEEE 1394b port, one Display Port, single link DV-I, HDMI 1.4a, RJ45 LAN port, an express card slot and a 7.1-channel audio with headphone, mic, S/PDIF and Line-in jack.
There are also five internal speakers and a 3W Subwoofer that support THX TruStudio Pro audio as well as a built-in microphone.
As for connectivity options, a choice can be made between the built-in wireless 802.11 a/g/n, Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless 802.11 a/g/n and Bigfoot Networks Killer Wireless N 1103 802.11 a/g/draft-n. There is also a built-In Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR Wireless.
The EON17-X laptop measures 2.22-2.39”(H) x 16.50”(W) x 11.26”(D) and weighs 12.1 lbs with its battery that unfortunately can only last 60 minutes or just an hour.
Choice of operating system can be Windows 7 Home Premium/Professional/Ultimate 64-bit. Starting price for this desktop replacement laptop is at $3,159.
