Detailed Technical Specifications of AMD Trinity APUs Revealed
AMD’s Trinity APUs that are scheduled to arrive in the second quarter are expected to bring significant performance increase compared to the previous generation Llano APUs. We already know that they will be based on AMD’s Piledriver CPU architecture and will be manufactured using the 32nm fab process. What we don’t know are their technical specifications but luckily, reliable sources were able to share with Turkish website DonanimHaber those missing bits of information.
According to the slide that surfaced detailing the Trinity APUs, there will be six chips included in the initial lineup. This includes the quad core A10-5800K, A10-5700, A8-5600K and A8-5500 and the dual core A6-5400K and A4-5300.
The fastest APU in the lineup, the A10-5800K is an unlocked chip as denoted by the “K” suffix found on almost all modern CPUs today with unlocked multipliers. It has a base clock of 3.8GHz and a maximum Turbo frequency of 4.2GHz plus an integrated Radeon HD 7660D with 384 GCN cores and 800MHz clock speed. The chip’s TDP is rated to be 100W
Next in line is the A10-5700 which has a base clock of 3.4GHz and Turbo clock of 4.0GHz. Although it has the same graphics with the A10-5800K, the Radeon HD 7660D found on this chip is clocked lower at 760MHz. TDP of this chip is 65W.
The A8-5600K and A8-5500 are pretty much the same except for the higher clock speeds of the former. The A8-5600K is also an unlocked chips with 3.6GHz base clock and 3.9GHz Turbo clock while the A8-5500 has a base clock of 3.2GHz and Turbo clock of 3.7GHz Both have the Radeon HD 7560D graphics that features 256 GCN cores and 760MHz core speed. The A8-5600K has a TDP of 100W while the A8-5500 has 65W.
The last two chips, the dual core A6-5400K and A4-5300 have yet to be given any official clock speeds but both will feature a TDP of 65W.The graphics on the unlocked A6-5400K will be Radeon HD 7540D that features 192 GCN cores while graphics for the A4-5300 will be Radeon HD 7480D with 128 GCN cores.
Quad core Trinity APUs will have 4MB of L2 cache while dual core models will only come with 2MB. All these chips support DDR3-1866 except for the A4-5300 which only supports DDR3-1600.
Trinity APUs carry the FM2 socket design and support DX 11, AMD-Virtualization technology, Blu-ray 3D playback, UVD3 video and OpenCL Acceleration.
