Assassin’s Creed 3 Confirmed, Coming in October 2012

Ubisoft has officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed 3 which is now slated for an October 30 release. The announcement was made by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot in a conference call with investors just yesterday.
"Assassin's Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the Assassin's Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general," said Mr. Guillemot.
No other details were given but it is rumored that Assassin’s Creed 3 will feature a new protagonist as well a new setting which is the American Revolution. A possible Wii U version is also possible.
Mr. Guillemot also said that Ubisoft is investing in Assassin’s Creed 3 more than any past title in the franchise and he expects the game to surpass the 7 million sales record of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
The game has apparently been in development for three years now so given that we can probably expect to see screens or even gameplay videos very soon.
On related news, website Gameranx on Monday published information that it is claiming to be Ubisoft’s release schedule for this year. The schedule revealed new titles including Assassin’s Creed 3, Splinter Cell: Retribution and Far Cry 3, I Am Alive, Prince of Persia and a couple of others more.
According to Gameranx, the schedule was not leaked but rather, announced by Ubisoft itself. This claim was quickly refuted by Ubisoft though.
"We're thrilled and kind of amused to see this line-up news. It shows that players are anxious to hear about Ubisoft's upcoming releases. This reported line-up is inaccurate.” said Ubisoft.
"We guarantee you that you'll hear directly from us soon about the amazing variety of games Ubisoft has slated for fiscal year 2012-13,"
