AMD FX and Trinity 2012 Lineup Revealed

Throughout this year, AMD is scheduled to release its second generation APUs codenamed “Trinity” and at the same time, also the second generation FX-series CPUs. All these new chips will feature AMD’s new Piledriver CPU architecture that promises to bring better IPC performance compared to Bulldozer.
The first chips to arrive will be the Trinity APUs at the second quarter of this year. The initial wave of the new APUs will bring a new identifier, the A10-5000 which will carry the fastest SKUs of Trinity that come with an integrated Radeon HD 7660D graphics.
In the third quarter of this year, the second wave of Trinity will arrive; this time bringing along the A8-5000, A6-5000 and A4-5000 SKUs. The A8-5000 will have an integrated Radeon HD 7560D graphics, the A6-5000 a HD 7540D and the A4-5000 a HD 7480D.
Brazos 2.0 will also launch at the second quarter of this year. The series will include the E2-1800 and E1-1200 APUs that both have integrated Radeon HD 7300 graphics. These chips are AMD’s low power offering and will be used for nettops as well as smaller form factor notebooks.
Also arriving in the third quarter of 2012 are the Piledriver based FX CPUs codenamed “Vishera”. Four new SKUs can be expected and that includes the FX-8350, 8320, 6300 and 4320 with the number of core designated by the initial number on the CPU name.
It was already reported earlier that the Piledriver based FX CPU lineup will persist until 2013 with AMD only planning to release faster SKUs. That means we won’t see any new performance desktop chips from AMD until the end of 2013, a year which will be used to focus on the company’s APUs.
